The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Express Anger Regarding Sizing Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has altered its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Changes
Earlier, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
